Vintage "Toy" Gun Ads...

Ok, I know how some of you enjoy the stroll down firearms memory lane. But what did we do in those days when our allowance or selling GRIT simply wouldn't permit an actual firearm yet? Especially when your neighborhood crawled with hordes of imaginary Nazis, Japs or Commies.

Well thankfully the makers of that fables M16 also made some toy guns so that a 10 year old agent in training can get started.

They had them at least in the late 90's. Played with them as a kid.

Jeez, I had all of those Shoot N' Shell guns. I remember the Dick Tracy set with the shoulder holster. Then, there was also the Fanner 50...I recall that as being very authentic, right down to the loading gate. And I recall a belt buckle with a Shoot N' Shell derringer that would swing out and fire. That was a whole different culture and political climate, huh?

I had a brace of fanner 50's..they were neat..you are quite correct, not only was it a different culture and political climate back then, Compared to now, it was a whole different world...There are times when I wish I could go back..

After reading your post, I had to go look at the third one...Yup! that's Otis...(OMG, with a P-38!)I'd guess that was Andy and Barney pulling up, after he fell into the trash can...:laugh:

Interesting to note Billy Mumy (in the Dick Tracy clip) actually point and shoot his .357 snub nose at his dad holding the paper up. Failure drill right to the funny papers....

LOL..reminds me of Christmas morning..My brother and I get our fanner 50's..Spent the next few minutes assembling the ammo,loading the pistols..Once that was done, we put the rigs on and squared off in the living room. I don't remember who drew first, but, in the flurry of plastic bullets and caps, Mom hit the panic button..Our pistols were confiscated on the spot. Dad gave us a stern lecture about pointing those things at each other, and we did'nt get them back until later that evening, after we got back from Grandma's..:)
