I've been looking through the forums, and used the search feature, but I haven't found an answer to my question.
Are there any particularly high quality brands/sources for gas rings? It may be a silly question, but I've had some sets go thousands of rounds without dropping the carrier, and then other sets have started to let the carrier drop in only a few hundred. This is with the same carrier, and with the same ammo. Firing schedules were identical.
Swapping gas rings is easy and cheap, but this is also for a family member's rifle, and she isn't as AR maintenance savvy. I don't mind paying for good parts that she can rely on.
