1-8x to come out? :suicide: I feel like I have been waiting forever. Are they going to change the price to 3k+? I keep reading old posts but I would really like some sort of update if anyone has any insight.

Waiting.

I got tired of waiting. Bought the Swarovski 1-6 illuminated and am thrilled with it! Put it to good use this past weekend in Kyle Defoor's class. We shot at 200, 300, and 400. The dot was very visible in the bright Florida sun for the up close work.

From the Schmidt and Bender sticky at the top of the page:
https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=5872&page=4

Appears that the price has gone up to around $3500 and release around 2nd quarter 2012.

If you're lucky.

Schmidt has lost their second or third generation of optical engineers who just plain bailed. Check the "Careers" section of their web site to see what's open: http://www.schmidtundbender.de/en/company/job-a-career.html

Keep an eye on Optronika -- it's the company Herr Bender formed from all the Schmidt - Bender staff who have left.

Wow.
Thank the gods of optics I gave up on S&B 1-8 as a "must have".

I gave up on the SB 1-8 I think the only game in town is the Leupold CQBSS with the horus and daylight visible dot. I hear that the price may drop on it.

Well this was about the last thing I wanted to hear....:suicide:

Thanks for all the input. Really sad they changed the price.

I had my heart set on the 1-8 PMII Short Dot and was utterly disapointed. Luckily it will save me some money!

I feel Leupold Tactical made a huge leap this year. With the 2 Mark 8's, 2 mark 6's (looks like good pricing) and the HAMR they are going to be tough to beat IMO!

The Mark 6 1-6 will be going on my SCAR 17!

Well... if not the SB 1-8, then I don't know what I'm going get. Craptastic.

Hey man, I was looking at the S&B 1-8 for my scar 17 too! Now that the price has changed and all the waiting BS, I think I am leaning towards Mark 6 or 8. If the 8s come down like the rumors say, maybe I could swing it!

After this long of a wait, and the price increase....no for me.

I hear ya and couldn't agree anymore! S&B, you have officially lost my business with all your shenanigans. (I know, I know, you don't care)

It was actually the first booth I hit last week at SHOT. And it was like watching someone punch my dog in the face. It was just brutal listening to them say the prices.

8x power would not play that well with a 24mm objective. The exit pupil size would be a tiny 3mm. Think what that does to eye relief.
IMO 2-8X42 configuration that Zeiss Conquest offers makes more sense.
With a 24mm objective, 1-4 or 1-6 is the right power range.

Do you think the 24mm is a problem on 1-8x?

I've given up on S&B. From what I've read coming out of SHOT, the Mark 6 or possibly Bushnell 1-6.5 have moved into my radar. With a 30mm tube, the Bushnell is a easy replacement for my 1-4. Waiting on some good reviews of both. Links?

It would be cool if NOBODY bought a 1-8x S&B because of the wait and now the added 1K to the 2.5K. As much as I wanted one, they sure did make it easy to forget about it!

Having 1 on the bottom end is more important than me than having 8 on the top. No way I would pay that kind of money for a 2-8 power scope.
