very nice. I wouldn't want one in .38 but that's a nice piece there anyway. I love the old Lett grips. I got a used 4" GP100 a while back with the fullsize grips. They are the best grips I've ever wrapped my mitts around.

Now I begin the search to find the right holster for this 3" barreled workhorse.

What a nice revolver. And, yes, it will handle +P ammo. :D

I wonder how much it would cost to ream the chambers to accept .357 mag.

Same here! I'm thinking of asking my local 'smith about this. But then on the other hand, I could just leave it as is and look for another in .357 mag.

If I recall correctly from my Ruger Armorer's class, unlike most S&W's, the .38 special cylinder is the same oal as the .357. It would probably be easier and maybe cheaper to find a .357 cylinder and change it out. Then, if you wanted to go back to the original configuration, it would be easy. Check gunbroker, etc., for guys that buy the parts from PD destroyed guns.

Nice, I have a 4" stainless with adj sights. Sweet shooting the heavy .357 loads. It carries well in my Galco Fletch holster.

RepeatDefender, I sure appreciate you finally buying that little beauty.
Hambones ad had been driving me crazy for 3 or 4 weeks. If it had been chambered in .357 it would have sold in an hour.
Anyway, you sure took the heat off of me! Congrats and enjoy.

Why bother trying the expensive and possibly unsafe expedient of turning it into a .357?

Load that baby up with 125 grain +p and let the thugs worry about you!

Carried an issued .357 for about 6 years....as I recall...it was a top 10 combat pistol at the time. Shot expert many times, nice heavy piece.

Not unsafe because the GP100 in 38 is simply a .357 with the cylinders reamed to the smaller case spec of the .38. There is a world of difference between the best .38 loads and the best .357 mags.

I have a 6" SS in .357. It was the first handgun I ever bought.
I'd love to get a 3" but I have an AR I need to put together first.

I like it! :)

I'm a long time fan of S&W revolvers, but the new ones with lock and degraded looks don't look appealing to me.

This revolver would make a lot of sense in countries restricted to handguns in calibers up to 38 spl/380 ACP. But then again, these countries only allow non expanding bullets, and for defensive use against bipeds most of that extra horsepower would be wasted.

I got to shoot a few cylinders through it this past weekend. This is a fine defensive piece! Puts the holes exactly where I want them in DA and SA. The weight makes it a joy to shoot the +P .38spl loads in. Very little recoil to speak of.

Exactly.
