Has anyone tried one of the new Quentin Defense military edition billet lowers? They have four editions: US Army, USMC, USN and US Air Force. I just ordered the US Army edition.

BTW, I am in no way affiliated with Quentin Defense, except as a customer, even though my screen name is Quentin (my middle name).
Here are links and pictures of all four:

And while searching for previous threads I found this one that goes into detail on QD billet receivers:

I like that. I may have to pick up an Air Force one to do a remembrance build in memory of my grandfather

They made it. But it was much smaller and everyone forgot about it.

Kidding. ;)

I'm trying to think what I would do with a usmc lower. I would have to treat it like shit, put the least amount of money in it yet still expect it to perform better than anything else, and I'd have to make sure some higher ranking lower didn't steal my lower to make it police call.

The price is right. Maybe ill start an SPR build.

Kinda cool, who's dealing them?

Those look pretty nice. I've got a few USAF family members that might like rifles for Christmas...

I just don't know if I'm capable of giving them away after I build them. :o

If I remember right, I think they fall under Sea World...

j/k

Anyways... I wouldn't mind building something with one of the Army lowers though. I kinda wish they were a standard forged lower for possibly a M16A4 or M4 clone build. It would be something cool to have for when I finally decide to get out of the Army (10 years this July).

I ordered directly from QD. Not sure if anyone else is carrying them but don't think many have been made so you'd likely have to deal directly with QD.

The status on Monday was my order is on hold as they're waiting on a batch of lowers to come back from anodizing. I may order their stripped billet upper to match but first want to see how my Daniel Defense upper looks on it.

It was the Coast Guard that landed our troops on the beaches during WWII, something I didn't find out until recently- http://www.uscg.mil/history/articles/CGPacWar.pdf

My service was with the USAF and my sons have followed my footsteps. I like the new USAF logo, kinda cool

the price is not bad for the design of the lower. Gonna show this to some of my USMC buddies. USMC logo looks kinda weird without the latitude lines on the globe. Should be able to etch those in if the US Army and Navy logos have the stripes.

Need to have all the special forces logos for each branch too: Delta, Rangers, Force Recon, SEALs, AFSOC

My dad had a buddy who signed up for USCG in Vietnam era because he thought he'd be safely along the shores of the US. They sent him to run around rivers in Vietnam.

Don't they call that poetic justice?

As a person that signed up during a non-draft time period I can see thinking that's shameful. However, even if you do something like that but serve honorably and follow all orders passed to you then I can hold nothing against you.

And you deserve the right to buy one of these lowers.

Heh.....See the tie in here?

I think the Army should have a cool saying like “Semper exspectans”

My lower finally came in. Looks real good, I'm pleased with it.

Had a computer crash so slow getting these pictures posted. I'm very pleased how it turned out.

That lower looks great. I bought my dad (22 years in the Navy) a stripped lower last year for veterans day, and had his name, rate, USN logo, and the gunners mate insignia hand engraved on it. It looks awesome, and he loves it. I just wish these lowers were out last year... Maybe it can be a fathers day present this year. I don't think he would mind another lower...

They really should have put the Army's motto on there like they did with the other services.
"This we'll defend," as it's on the Drill Sergeant and MP badges, and on the Dept. of the Army emblem.
Hell, the Navy and Air Force don't even have an official motto I don't think.

Not a bad price for a billet lower with engraving.

Those are their core values, and often used as a motto, but they don't have an actual official motto.

In 2010 I believe the Air Force adopted "Aim High ... Fly-Fight-Win". I also believe they've used "Above all" and "No one comes close" in the past and may still do so. I personally believe that the Latin equivalent of "Specta alte" (A phrase attributed to Cicero and meaning to have high aims) would have been nicer, but that is just me.

You're correct. My mistake, I was looking at outdated information and didn't double check.

I had Quentin Defense laser etch that information for me. They charged $25 which isn't bad at all.

I'd be interested if they used the actual Department of the Army seal. I'm so sick of the officers cap device.

No U.S. Coast Guard?

Not trying to start an argument, but isn't U.S. Coast Guard part of DHS now and not the Military?

Or am I mistaken?

Regardless, the lowers do look nice.

You are technically correct, but the Coast Guard has been patrolling foreign shores as well as our own and have taken as much or even more risk than the Navy throughout our history, including in the Gulf, so it's a distinction I would never make.

Or am I mistaken?

The mistake made is that the question is somehow relevant to a discussion of stripped lower receivers.

You can post on M4C, so I'm gonna go out on a limb presume that you have internet-based search engines at your disposal....?

EDIT: The part I forgot to mention, and should have, my bad...there's no realistic way to expect many to remember how many threads we've had threads devolve in the past because of folks' willingness to show off how far they're willing to split hairs over who the CG belongs to, at which time, and under what conditions. Would rather not see it, outside of General Discussion.

Excellent! I wouldn't have given a plug nickel for the earlier etching - this is a sign that they are listening.

Then again, maybe they're not listening. I left a message on their website on Sunday asking if they can do my name and service years like Quentin's and if they could give me a custom serial number and they have yet to even acknowledge my question, let alone provide an answer...

I called them up. They said they no longer have the older version of the Marine Corps lowers. So the only ones they sell now on their website is the updated version with more detail to the EGA.

I guess they just havnt updated the picture on the website where you order.
