The receiver is not Colt.

Is the barrel factory threaded?

it has a basic a2 flashider on it, i was told it was original threaded barrel from colt factory. i bought a preban lower and this is the upper that was on it. was told the upper is a complete colt upper, but apparently not.

The barrel is from a Colt 6530.

I would replace the receiver with a Colt flattop receiver.

the relief for the top of the auto sear is the "M16" cut. It's the half moon shaped cut just forward of the takedown pin lug.

Cardinal makes raw forgings, they are not a manufactuer of uppers. Other companies buy the forgings to make uppers from. Colt parts will usually have a C on them somewhere or the other Colt proof marks.

ETA: Can you post a picture of the other side of the front sight base?

Colt is more than gtg. What BCG did it come with? How many rounds thru it when and since you got it?

No reason it should't work with a good BCG in it, just curious if the FSB is F marked to go with the flat top upper unless you're going to run optics on it.

The FSB is not f marked and it doesn't matter on that barrel because it should have came with a taller front sight post from the factory.

I thought the 6530 was a A2 upper?

It does have an A2 upper.

It still would have a taller front sight post.

I always thought the Colt carbine barrels used a FSP that was the same height just thinner and the thinner part got dropped from the issue weapon out of concerns for inventory control?
