View Full Version : Need some thoughts
I am being asked to make a decision.
I am retired but have been asked to do a part time thing.
It requires me to be armed I have my choice I can carry a glock23 or a sig sauer P226 40 cal or a P220 45acp or the g21
Which would you pick?
I'm going with a P220 stainless elite.

Which ever gun you have the most time and training with.
If they are all new to you, then which ever one you shoot the best.

I've made my choice I 'm just wondering what you all would pick from the choices.
I own them all and shoot them all well.
Open carry or Concealed?
It needs to be concealed. It's a Public position which will require me to be very secretive.

From the choices listed and carried concealed, I'd use the Glock 23.
Of the choices listed I would go G23 also
Since they came out with the new, thin aluminum grips I'd go with the Sig P220. I had a beautiful P220 Elite carry SAO that I sold because the darn thing was just too big for my hands with the wood grips. Great shooters!

If you've already chosen then why do you "need thoughts"?

Well thats what forums are for and besides a guy can change his mind.
Because If I was 150% sure of my choice well then i maybe would not have started the thread. Besides this is the internet.
Glock for the win, at least in the poll so far. I carry a G22 on duty with a G27 back up and now a G35 with X300 off duty.
I've carried Sig's over the years, concealed carry only, and have several 1911's but have gotten to where a Glock is carried exclusively. Muscle memory and many thousands of rounds down range along with the increased round count of the Glock make it what I have when I need a gun.
I see only one vote for the Sig, was that you? j/k
WOW the g23 gen4 is really taking the lead lets keep the good info and advice and voting going here.
Thanks all

Out of the choices listed I would take the G23. If I was able to choose anything I would choose G19 Gen3.
I carried and G23 and sometimes a Sig P245 for years off duty. But once I got my G19 it was all over, its my main carry all the time now.
Sadly my P245 has not seen the ouside of its box for a few years now.
Glock 23. If you can't use a 19.

It would depend on year of manufacture
I have shot Sigs for a while, but those of recent manufacture are not the Sigs of old.
The Gen 4 Glocks have not had the kinks worked out enough for me to recommend them to anyone.
So, for me, none of the above.

Right.
I would find NEW Choices like:
Walther PPQ
S&W M&P
HK P30
HK 45
Older GEN 3 Glock's and SIG's.

Gen three g23 I don't trust the gen 4's yet. Of course if you have a few thousand trouble free rounds through it, it may be trustworthy enough for you.

The problems seemed to have been with the gen 4, G 19 & 17. The .40's GTG.

That is tough. The 220 is a 9 round gun and if the trigger return spring goes your screwed. Also its a new SIG so no thanks same applies to the 226. The 21 is too bulky for me. I was forced to carry that brick for 6 years of my 12 as a LEO and hate it. The new Gen 4 grip is far better but still not my first choice. I hate the .40 in the Glock but the 23 is the only choice on your list I could live with.
