i have a matech BUIS that im going to zero soon but i usually do a 50yrd zero but im wondering how that will interfere with the matech's set 200/300/400/500/600 adjustments?

if i zero at 50/200yrds will be on at 300/400/500? like my matech has settings for?

If you zero it at 200, it'll be good to go for the most part. Unless your front sight is, or is at the same place, as a carbine gas FSB, it'll be off a bit anyway.

So, get yourself close at 50, then fine tune your zero at 200 with it set on 200. If you zero it at 50 and leave it there, you'll still be pretty close at the 200 setting. You'll be zeroed closer to 200 meters with a 50 yard zero, but it'll be pretty close.

I have 2 MaTechs and three KACs, for a while all were zeroed at 200, though for some reason I'm starting to prefer a 100 yard zero...

Thanks for the reply, i plan to do a 50yard zero on the 200 setting. Have you tried any of the other setting like 400-600yards? Im mainly wanting to be on target when switching the range setting. As long as im minute of man at all the presets of the matech id be happy

I have one of them as well. I would fallow the prevous advice of the 200M zero. One also has to take into account the ammo they were designed for and the ammo your shooting. The drops need to be compaired.

More with the KAC rear sights than the MaTech, but I'm sure they're pretty close. On my 14.5" with a 12" rail I usually just hold over but I've put a number of rounds at 300 and it was pretty much on with 855 and close with 5.56 TAP 75gr.

On my 16" I ran it at 400 and was close with 855. When I tried some 223 TAP 75gr though, I was hitting a few inches low.

Again, these were only on a few different occasions. I usually just hold over its an Aimpoint or use the ACOG.

Which rifle is it going on and what ammo will you be shooting most of the time?

50yds does not actually equal 200. It tends to vary greatly with different brands and weights.

The Matech was developed for M855 so everything else will be off.

Yeah, it's a little closer to 50 yards and 200 meters. That's why I was saying earlier to use a 200 yard zero.

Lately I've been using a 100 yard zero again.

Depending on your range, you can do either or. If you zero with M855 and you have access to a 25 meter range which is 27 yards, then set the sight at 300m and zero. If you only have access to a range in yards set the target at 50 yards, set the sight at 200m and zero. 50 yards cross over at 200 meters. 25 meters cross over at 300 meters. Do not mistake yards for meters. Although close at short distances, at greater distances they are not close.

You can always check your zero if you have access to a 200m or 300m range and fine tune. Most of us do not have ranges in meters at those distances. Don't make the mistake and use a 200 yard or 300 yard instead of a 200meter or 300meter range. They are not the same and will be off a bit which will throw your matech settings off.

While in the Army, we zeroed the Matech at 25 meters and I was hitting man sized targets at 300 meters with consistency for qualification. I see no reason to fine tune at actual distances unless you plan on hitting targets smaller than man sized targets which is not what the Matech was designed for. It is a back up sight.
