Lots of AK's, AR's a few shotguns and even a Thompson or its clone being flashed around which places patrol level Police who respond in these gang areas at great risk.
I remember reading posts here on M4Carbine that stated Police should have no need of military arms such as the AR's or APC's which were graded surplus by the DoD/U.S. Military and given to police departments all over the country.
To those who still believe that Police should not deploy such weapons and I move to submit this video as Exhibit "A" to that argument.

I currently live in a state with less than a million residents. There are about 150K people in my current county with a population density of around 55 people per square mile.
In less than a month, I will own 200+ acres in a county with 3500 people and a population density of a little under 2 people per square mile.
When I watch shit like that movie, I'm thinking I should have looked for some place a little more remote.

Admittedly, within the prevailing zeitgeist of the M4C community my political views might seem hopelessly "progressive" but I can assure you I'm more libertarian than liberal. I'm all for "live and let live" and, given the current trend, I want to do the majority of my living as far away from the rest of humanity as I possibly can.
If I can spend the remaining days of my life wandering into town once or twice a month to throw away the mail in my P.O. Box and pick up some chow for the dogs, I'm gonna do just fine. :happy:

It's a strange dichotomy. Believe me, part of me wants to kit up and hit these neighborhood like a hostile Afghan village...but in the end they're Americans and this problem needs to be solved within the framework of the Constitution.
While relentless enforcement of the law is a major part of the equation, the solution to the gang problem starts in Kindergarten through 5th grade...education and cultural awakening. "Ganster rap" musicians have blood on their hands. These communities need role models.
The problem these "people" have in this video can't be solved through law enforcement actions....the solution is in parenting.

I'm no ecomonics expert, but lately I've been reading about it, Anyway, in the book I'm reading they predict inflation will kick in to high gear in the 2015-16 time frame.. By that I mean, 20-30% or more.I don't know if they'll be right or not, but in the recent past the authors predicted the collaspe of the housing market 2-3 yrs before it happened..But, you are exactly right..this kind of spending,debt, ect, cannot go on..We are in for a rough ride ahead..
Obviously, economics is a major issue here. The "Welfare State" creates a vicous cycle of perpetual poverty. The drug trade is another obvious factor. But you can be poor and not be a thug. The salient point here is that the issue is first and foremost a behavioral and cultural problem. And it's not just the black community either. Look at the Hispanic gangs in California, or the white meth dealing punks in Kentucky who I had to deal with for years. Economic progress will mitigate a lot of gang / drug related violence, but there also needs to be a cultural awakening in each of these groups where positive personality traits are once again admired.
Unfortunately, I know that's not likely to happen on a large scale, and things are likely to get worse before they get better...if it gets better at all.

I am really disgusted that this shit is acceptable in this country. I hope LE camps out there until they are all dead or in prison (not jail). They are disgusting, vial animals with no regard for life.

Scares the hell out of me that one of the places they target City Place, is within 5-6 minutes from The Breakers in Palm Beach where I take my daughters for vacation every year. We go shopping and out to eat there at least a few times when we are down there.

I live in suburbs of West Palm about 20 minutes from City Place. City Place for those of you that don't know is a huge beautiful outdoor shopping area, lots of high end stores, out doors restaurants etc. in downtown West Palm. Built to resemble Venice, Italy. Really a nice looking place. People walking around half the night just hanging out. Bands outside to entertain the crowds etc. They've had major problems there with thugs in the past but seemed to quell the problems with the Police righfully being heavy handed. There was a 10:00 curfew for minors for the longest time in the city of West Palm. Not sure if it is still in effect.
Last time my wife and I went to City Place we tried BB Kings Blues Club. Nice looking big club. We arrived around 6:30 to grab a bite, a couple drinks and listen to live music. It was a nice mixed crowd. All was good til 10 when the crowd drastically changed and I said to my wife, "let's get the hell outta here". She was in immediate agreement. It was getting full with characters nearly as bad. I'll go back to City Place again but we won't be planning on going back to BB Kings anytime soon, or at least will plan to leave before the night crowd comes out. Most of City Place itself is okay though and enjoyable. If you get down here worth checking out. There is a large Police presence so you really don't feel unsafe. Been there a bunch of times and to the comedy club or Restaurants, never an issue other than the uncomfortable feeling at BB's that time.
Now Riviera Beach (sounds so pretty doesn't it?) That's where you want to stay the hell out of. That's home to these thugs and gangs. Probably where lots of that movie was made. Murder capital of Florida and it's just north of West Palm.

Just an update: We closed on this property yesterday. Will begin building access road within the month (hopefully ahead of the spring rains).

The higher up the food chain you go (from cooks and ROWPU operators, to truck drivers, to cannon cockers, to infantry, to airborne infantry, to Rangers and SF) the less ghetto bullshit you see. It probably wouldn't have happened if they didn't try to scam the dealer. But none the less, that is a violent crime that involved an AK. I have a mutual acquaintance with this particular dealer and that acquaintance told me that he shot someone before too a couple years ago with that AK. Not sure what the circumstances of that shooting were, criminal or defense. But just saying, shit like this does happen.

Florida is beautiful and perfectly safe (for the most part) if you stay away from the south east.
My wife has Grandparents on the Gulf coast & I really enjoy visiting/vacationing on that side of Florida, it's laid back & peaceful.
