I went in to my local shop with the intention of buying a Gen3 G17. They had 4 CPO SIG P220's. I looked them over and settled on one with a rail and German markings. Slide and frame say made in Germany. The internals look fantastic and the barrel looks great. It came with two "made in Italy" magazines. I like it and it was close enough to the same price as a G17 so I decided to go with it.

G387 serial prefix. I think that makes it late 2006 to early 2007 production but not entirely sure.

I feel pretty good about it being a German Sig and not one of the current ones.

Nice. The sig P220 is another one on my "maybe someday" list.

Have you priced extra magazines for it recently? I have a mid 90's made P220 that doesn't see the light of day much any more due to mags being scarce or expensive (compared to other gun types).
I am moving away from my P220.

Congrats on the P220! One of my all time favorites.

I had a great-shooting p220, and next to my 1911s, my favorite .45. Congrats on the buy...hope you enjoy it.

Thanks.

Magazine prices do suck!

No problem finding them where I live. I picked up two more today, $41 each. :suicide2: Yeah they are about twice the price of Glock mags but damn I like this pistol.

Come bonus time I will grab a Glock but for now I am pretty happy.

Glad I bought a crap load of mags when they were 20 bucks.

GT Dist has great prices on Sig P220 Mags, along with good shipping prices:

LA State Police traded their P220's a few years ago. There were 1100 of them available for $500 each with a night sights, holster, mag holster and 3 mags. I picked up 2 and found about 20 more mags at local gun shows for $11 each and there were hundreds.

There are probably still a lot floating around at gun shows in LA, Miss, and Ark. What was good was I got in early and had dozens of guns and mags to pick from.

MidwayUSA put them on sale every now and then for $30-$32 each.
Keep an eye out.

But maybe it's just me...

If you plan on shooting the P220 much, I'd strongly suggest replacing the takedown lever with the "Combat" or "Competition" model. It is supposed to be a 30,000 round rated piece.

I'd also be careful about the extractor. The internal design in the stainless slide will eventually fail. I've had them last 750 rounds and I've had them last almost 5,000 rounds. When it starts to double feed, get another.

The 220 and 226 are both timeless classics. I have resumed shooting my 226 non rail Navy more often now. I might start carrying it for work. ;)
