My 6933 just hit the dealer today. (yippee!) We sent off the paperwork and I had time to grab a quick photo. As you can see, the 6933 comes with the new stock now. I think it's a bit heavier than the old style, but I like it. It locked up tight and didn't make any noise. Guess I'll have an update in 6 months or so...

God I wish they'd stop with that stock already.

Congrats on the new 6933 though. Best option for civilian use IMO.

That's a great rifle! How long did it take from the time your dealer placed the order till it arrived? I've been contemplating putting in an order for a 6933 myself but pretty much every time I ask for anything Colt, it's out of stock. I agree that the Rogers stock is ugly as sin! It probably works fine, but I would have to put a Sopmod or old M4 style stock on it.

I bought my 6933 from dealer stock last July, with the ATF stamp coming back on January 25, 'Pending' five months to the day. It's a damned nice rifle. Mine has the old stock, which I prefer.

It was about 2 months. There was some issue with the Form 3 for some reason, so I don't know if that's typical or not.

I'm going to try the Rogers stock for a while and see what happens. It was comfortable for me anyway. It's a long way off, so I'm not even gonna sweat it 'til at least June. <sigh>

Awesome Choice. I'm still waiting on my tax stamp to come back as well. Hopefully only about 2 more months or so.

Greetings PaulL,

Excellent choice!

Could you describe and/or take close-up photos of the roll marks on both sides of your LE6933 and post them?

I am interested if it has the "LE" roll marks on the right side magazine well like the LE6920 used to.

Thanks!

Very nice! The ATF just cashed my check this week for mine so I'm guessing I'll get it sometime this summer. :(

Yep, it looks like we're on about the same timeline. Gonna be a long wait...

Please put a normal M4 stock on it. Otherwise great rifle. Is that stock something new colt is doing with all their guns or something?

Yeah, it appears to be the new hotness of Colt stocks. Have you had some experience with the Rogers stock?

ETA: Still trying to get a pic of the roll marks, too...

I've always liked the classic look of the 6933....except for that horrible new stock, guess if I get one it will go back to the standard m4 style stock.

Here are the roll marks (finally).

Greetings PaulL,

Thank you for taking the time to post the photos. I was wondering if the "LEO/Restricted" roll marks were included on the right side of the mag well. I am rather partial to them, but I know that most are not. The current description of the LE6933 rifles at Clyde Armory state that they will no longer have these markings, but will have the Rogers Super-Stoc, as yours does.

In my local gun store, a gentleman was purchasing an LE6720 and it too had the Rogers Super-Stoc. At first I was taken back by the "looks", but it did feel quite solid with no movement, even without the cam lock engaged. It is tighter than the standard M-4 stock on the LE6920 I have seen, even without locking it down.

Awesome rifle you have purchased! Too bad that it will take 5 - 6 months to take possesion of it and shoot it!

I bought one at Clyde's a couple of months ago. The display rifle had both the new stock and the LEO/Restricted writing on it. When they brought out mine, it didn't have the LEO/Restricted writing on it. I sent off a Form 1 for another rifle at the same time as this one. When the Form 1 gets approved, I'll check the status of my 6933's Form 4. I'll bet that Clyde's has a stack of 6933's waiting to go to their new homes.

I'm glad mine has the markings. I didn't know they were getting away from that. I like my stuff to look like I'm not supposed to have it. It's a good chance to educate people when they ask if it's legal. That marking helps show people that the government will NOT tell you what you have a right to own, and that you have to learn for yourself.

Bumping this rather than start a new thread...

Has the supply dried up again? I was contemplating getting a second one (even though I don't have my stamp back on the first one :sarcastic:) and it looks like nobody has them in stock on the web. There's a local dealer with 3 or 4 in stock at $1495, but I thought they were going for more like $1100-1200. Anybody got the scoop on these things?

On a side note, the ones I saw at the dealer had the new wacky stock and a very plain and boring "M4" rollmark. Also, no "restricted" markings at all on the other side.

It looks like you better embrace the wackyness. The old stock seems to be gone for good.

Mine was a kit gun, but it had the old vinyl coated aluminum buttstock, which I really like.

These are some excellent looking Colt's. I have wanted to get one for awhile now but have not had the extra scratch for it yet. Been buying up bullets, powder and other stuff to keep my habit going. In the very near future though, I will have one. Until then, congrats on your purchase.

Guess which moron forgot the 6933 was a pencil barrel when it came to low-pro gas block purchasing time...

Discovered within 30 seconds of telling my wife how smooth the rail installation was going.

My taper pins were actually freakishly loose. I think the low-pro is more secure. No kidding, I just barely tapped them and they shot right out. I could have just pushed them with the punch. The last 3 sets I've knocked out gave me ulcers and IBS. Whacking and whacking all the live-long day until they finally loosen up.

These were a joke. I don't know how they didn't just fall out from handling.

Oh LORD! To buy a factory complete 6933 and start that shaving nonsense? That's a crime.

Yeah... the one 6933 I punched pins on was a ball buster too.

Is the shaving thing not a good idea? I thought it was ok other than tearing up a good FSB.

Also, the previous rifles I fooled with were an M&P15 and two Colts. This is my first 6933. I'm thinking maybe the taper pins aren't controlled as well as the rest of the parts. Maybe I got the small end of allowable on both.

Shaving is tearing up a perfectly good FSB. If I wanted a low pro, I wouldn't buy a 6933 and then rape the poor thing. I'd get a BCM and build it in the config I wanted. But that's just me... I hate the idea of cutting on a gorgeous Colt factory gun.

"Gorgeous" Colt factory gun???
Rape???

Seriously?

Shaving is a perfectly acceptable and mechanically sound method.

As far as "tearing up?"

I don't know... there's plenty more of them out there, it's not like some rare, exotic, war relic.

I would have no problem shaving the gun I posted if that's the way I wanted to go, and mine's a Diemaco kit... which I suppose does make it a tiny bit "special" to some.

markm

I know shaving the site works and is mechanically sound.... but why chop on a nice colt Complete?

I mean... you could almost sell the Colt upper half as is and buy two BCMs.... or a BCM and a Rail system.

Dang, how much are people selling these things for? Mine was only about $150 over what Grant gets for the cheapest BCM rifle.

I suppose with the low-pro block you can at least take it back to original with all its original parts if you wanted. On the other hand, a Colt pencil barrel FSB probably isn't that hard to come by, either.

From our own EE:

https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=111212

IF this gent acquired his Diemaco from the same place I did mine, he paid $700 for a complete kit (sans lower) with carry handle.

Here's a complete upper for under $800 (not so amazing):

http://www.ratworxusa.com/pagDetail.aspx?SKU=Colt-6933-Upper

The deals are out there, you just have to keep your eyes peeled. I still wouldn't think twice about shaving one, if that's the route I chose to take.

PaulL

Yep. Troy Alpha. I've preferred the feel of the stock M4 handguards for a long time, but I liked the weight, feel, and attachment mechanism of the Alpha. Not too expensive, either. I expect the VTAC rail is similar.

I wanted to stay on the path of KISS, but I can say that all the extra stuff has a purpose. The MIAD gives me storage, trigger guard gives me less blisters, and the rail gives me easier attachment for stuff. I'm leaving the stock because it's lighter than some of the others, possibly stronger, and it's got a sling attachment point.

Yeah... $800 is about what I'm used to seeing. My point is that I'd buy a BCM for a shaver if that's what I wanted to do.
