Remington, Colt, Browning, and Smith & Wesson have been providing firearms to the Untied States Military and Law Enforcement communities for almost two centuries… Some of their designs dominate their respective fields for decades or longer and are purchased or copied by dozens of other nations… Some of these are the Remington 700 rifle, the Smith & Wesson 38 hand ejector, the Browning M2 machinegun, the Colt 1911 Pistol, and of course the M4 carbine…

In the 19th century one of these was the Remington rolling block rifle… It was designed during the Civil War, and made its international debut at the Paris Exposition in 1867. It was soon officially adopted by at least a dozen countries military’s as their primary shoulder weapon. A rolling block was carried by Custer on all of his campaigns in the west, including the little Big Horn, and by Billy Dixon at the battle of Adobe Walls, where he made the shot of a century… Rolling blocks saw active military service for another 50 years all the way to the trenches of France in World War One…

If you have not guessed, this is one of my all time favorite rifles…

Beautiful rifle!

Back in the day, if you couldn't afford Mauser bolt actions, you bought Remington Rolling Blocks.
