I'm planning on adding a weapon light to my amd-65 (it's not in stock form) I shoot right handed, so do I mount on the right side so it doesn't obstruct my view, or mount on the left side so the beam shines straight in front of my eyes?

How are you planning on mounting it?

As far as the beam shining directly in front of your eyes. An inch or two of offset from mounting it on the other side of the rifle isn't going to make a difference in the light you see.

I see a LOT of starboard mounted lights these days... but as I hear tell, 'nobody' likes tape switches. So I'm guessing that MOST AR owners apparently wear a size 20 high school/college/wedding ring, thereabouts.

For those of us like myself (ring size - 11 1/4), I keep 'em on the port side - 11 o' clock being preferable - so that I might still reach the clickie, while maintaining something resembling a 'proper' grip. FWIW.

I asked pretty much the same question not long ago in this thread and got some good responses.
