Just got a 14.5 Noveske upper. Pinned and welded vortex flash hider carbine gas and standard hand guards. My question is that it came with with an open bcg. The bolt is marked mp with a c beside it. Is that rite?

What do you mean "an open bcg"?
Was the gun from Noveske?
Could you post a picture (or three)?

Got it from a guy ive dealt with in the past. he sells a lot of guns and was planning on using it in a build. The bcg looks like one of the old colt ones. Just open all the way at the rear. Sorry, can't post pics. On old I pad.

You saying it has an old colt semi auto bolt carrier with an unshrouded firing pin, and halfmoon rear?

Yes but it is a new one. I thought it was weird but everything else has the Noveske marks and I got a good deal on it. No wear marks on bcg or in upper. It's new stuff. Seller is reputable. I tried to look on noveske's site but it only showed complete rifles. If ya trust me I'll send a pic to an email or phone but understand if the answer is no.

Noveske Uppers includes BCG and it is not a SA.

Sounds like the BCG was swapped out for that "C" marked "half circle" one you have, if you got a factory complete upper and not an assembled one.
I have seen used "half circle" BCG's refinished before and they looked pretty good. I think Century was selling them a few years ago.

I bet your Noveske barrel dry heaves when the action is closed with that BCG. ;)

Probably. Ha ha. I got it at a good enough deal that I can replace the bcg. Probably replace this ine with a DD. After I shoot the living piss out of it of course. This one has all the test markings on it so I'll probably use it for a while and keep the other one for a spare...I would assume C stands for civilian?

How is the upper receiver marked? What are the markings on the barrel? Describe the finish on the pin and weld.

I have my doubts that it is a Noveske built upper assembly. I just built an upper assembly using a Noveske stamped upper receiver, anyone can get them but the ones sold are not marked the same as those sold on a Noveske built upper or upper assembly. Minus a receipt from Noveske Rifle Works or pics of the barrel stamps, the upper markings, etc., I'll remain skeptical.

===================================

"C" is for Colt. I've never noticed a "half circle" BCG made by anyone else but Colt but I haven't seen very many.
The "half circle" is from when Colt didn't like us civilians.

The barrel is marked between the fs and the flash hider. If you were holding them upper with the ejection port towards your body, the first mark is the Noveske cross, MP, 5.56 NATO, 1/7 in that order from left to right. The flash hider is pinned and welded. The weld is at the 10:00 position if you were facing the muzzle. The weld is clean and flush. Directly above the fwd assist the cross as well with a marking that resembles a keyhole about an inch to the right. It came with a folding rear sight that has the cross with the Noveske name under it.

Met with shop owner and he made things rite. He was appalled at the situation and He completely replaced upper and let me keep the other bcg. Hes not a Noveske dealer but usually keeps a few on hand. He even offers to refund some of the money but I refused since he did the rite thing. Should have bought from forum vendor but I've had numerous dealings with him and he's always been stand up. Kudos to him but lesson learned. Thx to all who responded. Sorry, still can't post pics.

it's good you got it squared away, but I believe Noveske uses midlength gas.

They use both. They still make a carbine gas upper in 14.5" and I think 16" but they're no longer a standard option on their site...
