Was thinking about getting away from the bulky forend light and testing an X300.

If so what rail did you use and has it held up alright?

I used a piece of Leupold steel Weaver rail from a Remington 700 set. It allows the light to sit lower against the forend than a Picatinny rail will. I threaded the polymer and milled out a space on the backside for backing nuts. After locking it down, I ground the screws flush with the nuts and staked them for extra security. This setup has been on my 590A1 since about 1998 with no issues.

Nice, good idea.

I picked up a small Nordic Components rail that clamps on the barrel and mag tube, I dont like the light going back and forth every time I cycle the action.
