What bullet for what barrel(5.56/.223)

Could anyone out there that knows about colts please help me with a seem to be very tough Question? Can I shoot a 5.56 Through the SP6940 marked .223 on the magazine well, But has the barrel marked c5.56 NATO. I've talked to different people and have gotten different answers. the most I've heard is that all colts are milspec and can shoot either round and the markings were results from the pre ban and the possibility of a new pre ban with are new president.

Welcome to M4C. I am curious to know if you did any reading or research prior to this. The short answer is yes, you can shoot 5.56 ammunition in your 6940. 6920, 6933, etc...

I think i've done too much reading up on it. As most people say yes you can. There are some article online that say it shoudn't be attempted because of the difference in the length of the casing which cause incorect pressures in the barrel. I'm getting one in june!!

Have no fear- Colt, BCM, DD, Noveske, LMT and I am sure a few others are all 5.56 friendly.

Your Colt is 5.56 and can shoot 5.56 or .223. A .223 chamber should not be used to shoot 5.56m. Some companies mark their guns 5.56 when they're .223.
