A buddy of mine has an M&P in 45 that experiences frequent stoppages where the cartridges have trouble making the transition from the magazine into the chamber.
It -could- be his reloads but when I cycled some factory cartridges through the pistol, the extractor geometry seems to be contributing to the problem. The underside of the hook stalls on the edge of the rim instead of properly allowing the cartridge to slide in behind the claw.
The magazine springs are in good shape. The problem can occur anytime during a sequence, say 3rd or 7th shot from the magazine.
Serial is MPR05xx and still has a black striker.
Is there any chance Smith has revised the geometry of their extractors since he got his gun?
