Best place seems to be centre line (10:30 to 1:30), at waist or chest level. That is from benchmade's "howto"... http://www.benchmade.com/products/176

ETA: Also, get the trainer version and train with it...

Only problem is that with the Spartan version there is no clip to attach it to my inner belt.
