first aid, a revolver and some bullets and food.
What is your objective when "bugging out?" Why? Where to? What environment, weather, how far, etc? Results may vary depending on the answers.
Personally I carry a light Get Home Bag kit in my car and my objective is to get home. That's where my stuff is, my family, my house, my neighbors, etc.
Ribzwear.com and Hillpeoplegear.com kit bag and a small rucksack are the basis of my GHB kit.
I have 4 season mountaineering and camping gear at my house that would be in my bug out kit (in my truck) and of course if I had to go overland I would pack my backpack with the appropriate gear and walk from the truck only if ABSOLUTELY necessary.
In my GHB I carry supplies to start fire (x3) and a Firebox Nano, shelter (ponchos w liner & space blanket tarp), water in steel single walled bottle (with purification tab), food (snickers and jerky), cordage, multitool & fixed blade knife, flashlight, gloves, rain pants, hat, jacket, trauma kit, small roll of duct tape, .
I also carry stuff in my EDC that would be included in the GHB and supplies in my car/truck that would also be incorporated as needed. Small ax, folding bow saw, shovel, flares, heavier rope, etc
Good luck figuring out what you need!
Bag with EDC on me at all times feasible - note not the 'EDC' shit people post thats unrealistic, I mean useful low profile items I can use to get out of trouble and keep moving. Check RedTeams and ITS Tactical for some ideas.
GHB in the cars.
BOB and supplies at home.
