Well, you said your not an officer, and I believe neither Military, but let me tell you something. people think that police all they do is coffee and donuts but they are wrong, police work is a very hard job that consists of hard training every certain time to keep up with the world. We are the front line in the local area, some areas that rely on only state police takes a long time for them to respond, also they BEST reason for a cop to have a many gear as he can is to "stop the threat" as quickly as possible. Do you want me to remind you:
- The shooting in the parking lot of Bank of America
- Columbine
- Virginia Tech
- Military base in TX
- Colorado Shooting
Want me to keep going?
If you don't live in a big area, backup will take a lot to respond especially if you need the state police. forget about military, they cant police the street.
We cant predict what is going to happen and that's why you need to be ready for worst case scenario.
A police dept asking a civilian for opinion for a tactical team started in the wrong foot, I understand he is your brother in law (nothing personal) but most of civilian do not know what it is to be a law enforcement, before I was a LEO there was things that used to happen right in front of me and I couldn't tell, after I became one I started learning and noticing those things and I even told myself (wow this was right at my face and I never noticed) I think your brother should get professional opinion (that's why we have companies and other agencies who specialized in that)Quote:
i am saying this cause my brother in law is a police cheif and they just started a new tactical SRT unit, and they asked for my opinion on weapons, gear and i helped out with giving them my opinion and feedback
Excatly, I rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
We shouldn't, you just said it, we are FIRST RESPONDERS, and our job is to stop the threat ASAP to avoid any additional situation.
Feel sorry for you.
Agree.
Notice: I don't intend to insult somebody, but if I did, I apologize.
