Those old adds were too funny!
That's an accurate rifle. I may have to buy one for myself.
I "really" wish I had a quarter for every time I have answered this question since 2004/5.Quote:
Why are one of the rounds loaded backwards in the magazine on the table?

Was it for humor, or the advertisement/promotion departments lack of knowledge on how to load a weapon?
The latter.
H&K is renown for weapons; not for witty repartee, or hip insider jokes.
Yes, Germans are usually quite serious. This was the work of a paid promoter gone wrong.
HKGuns, it looks like a nice, very well made rifle. Good for a DMR role.
Questions:
Is the barrel chromelined or nitrate treated? I realize it's cold hammer forged, but HK's website does not specify about the inner lining of the barrel.
What bothers me is that the gun has no adjustable gas block for suppressed use like my SCAR 17 for example. Have you tried running it suppressed and does the manufacture give any suggestions on what needs to be modified for suppressed use? Buffer weight or spring strength? This issue alone would make me purchase a Knights (which has a longer gas system tuned for use with their suppressors) or an OBR for a "precision" role 16" AR variant. I would bet that the HK would spank those two choices in terms of reliability. I like my SCAR, but it is not a DMR by any means.
The barrel is unlined. I use my762SDN on it without issue. I've shot surplus 308 as well as FGMM, Hornady TAP and M118LR through it without issue with the suppressor.
Humm I seem to remember being told by "experts" here that I would never find a shitty good for nothing piston rifle that shot just over 1MOA. The more I research the more I am a bigger fan of 16inch DMR guns. And yes, all the M80 ball I have shot has been fairly dirty. Did you notice the bore itself being any more difficult to clean than chome lined other guns you own?
As Michael stated, it is not chrome lined, which ticks off the Mil-spec or bust crowd. But it is an HK, the steel they use in the barrel is a trade secret, so "not Milspec" and the alloy used in the other parts is also proprietary and considered a trade secret and thus not "Mil-spec". GASP! That doesn't stop the various military adoptions however......Go figure, I suppose they figure HK understands how to make a rifle.....I tend to agree.Quote:

I've not shot the rifle suppressed, sounds like Michael has......
No difference in cleaning, it and my MR556 are two of the easiest rifles in my safe to clean.Quote:

When you look down the pipe it is like a mirror finish.
If it ever warms up I'll be throwing some Hornady A-Max hand loads down range which should shoot even better than the M80 ball.
