What I found distasteful about Bartocci’s video is that he depicts Colts attitude as an accumulation of bad decisions by the same people. Colt has been run by many different people over the years who may have independently made bad choices but I don’t know you can make the the argument it’s a 50+ year cultural thing.
In the past 10 years I think Colt made a major effort to get rifles into civilian hands. As of 2011 I had to track down a 6920 to get one. By 2014 they were everywhere. While I would have preferred more innovation ...and the CCU was several years late.....they did make an effort to market to civilians. They did get rid of the large pins, etc and went back to a Mil-Spec rifle. They even switched their roll marks to appease their customers. For a short time they were even selling uppers and lowers separate. Their prices also dropped dramatically over that time...by over a third and according to the data posted above they made a shit ton of rifles to meet the demands of the pre election panic buying.
I think they tried to make good but it’s seem demand is very low. I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Seeing a ton of contact overrun parts hit the market would be a positive sign that they don’t plan to abandon civilian rifle sales permanently. Especially if they promoted it.
