It’s probably going to essentially be the same motion for you. It is for me. I basically stick my thumb out and hook the bottom of my cover and pull up then drive down on the gun. I don’t know if it’s the best technique, but it works well for me.

Know that's not the exact one you are getting but looks nice, not too bulky. For reference, here's what I got.

Be very, very cautious on leather-backed holsters. I know they are popular, but I never recommend them. A very common scenario happens when a person reholsters. The leather backing frequently collapses outward to a significant degree. The shooter ends up canting the pistol inwards towards their body, in order to create enough of an opening to reholster the pistol. That leads them to point the pistol inward towards their body, with all the associated vascular structures.
It is a common saying among untrained AWIB shooters that they will shoot themselves in either the wedding tackle or their femoral artery. Muzzling your hip accomplishes the same thing.
I have assisted a lot of very well known trainers as an RSO or AI, and independently they confirmed the same thing. And if you throw in a striker-fired pistol with no manual safety, it's "a thing".

So I got my aiwb today from jmc. I think I messed up, I ordered it with the extra tuck, not knowing what I was ordering, and got the teardrop wedge. Can I still use the teardrop? I can’t seem to get things to hide well. Any tips?
I added a pic to show it while carrying. Can you tell I’m carrying it looks like I’m printing big time to mehttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...19bf5621bb.jpg

Here it is exposed, it’s riding right along the Frank n beans, pushing into me. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...26eda48260.jpg

I would try shifting it to the right of center. That should angle the grip into your body more. You may want to play around with adjusting the ride height. I’m a fan of having a wedge. It pushes the grip more into my body and helps reduce pressure when bending.
One thing I do when I carry appendix is start my belt between the loops by my pockets. That way the buckle is off to the side and not adding to everything holster related and pushing your shirt out. Generally it’s not a problem unless you have a code brown.
Well me, I vastly prefer the molded-in extra tuck over pads.
I think if you use a pad WITH the extra tuck there it may be too much.
You definitely want that back off of center, especially if you're going to be using it with tucked shirt.
I do as Inkslinger, have my buckle off to side, when going with untucked shirt.
I also found that my own Wing Claw works better with only one strut w/ soft loop, the one over the triggerguard. This is with a G19 or 17.
What you WILL find is that AIWB is highly individualized and body-deoendent, that is, it will take some experimentation and moving things around to find the sweet spot.
But it's worth the effort. Ultimately it's more concealable and comfortable, at least for me, in concealment roles.
I’m 5’9” 190lbs and wear a 34 pant. I would wear a 33 if I didn’t conceal carry. I’ve tried every angle, with the claw without and the ****ing thing just digs in no matter what sitting or bending. If they’ll take a return I’m going to. If not I’ll cut the wedge up and see if it’ll somehow help. But I think I’m fighting physics, long barrel and my body.

A 5” 1911 is less than ideal for AIWB Carry, if that’s what the Wilson gun pictured is.
I’m 6’1” 190 lbs and a Commander/C2/Glok 19 size pistol is much more comfortable than a “full size gun” for IWB Carry, particularly Appendix.
If I carry a 5” gun it’s 4 o'clock IWB or (groan) an old Alessi Shoulder Holster.
