In other words when at an indoor range if person A is shooting a suppressed Uzi to the left of you and person B is shooting a suppressed MP5 to the right of you...which one is louder to you?
Uzi has a slower cyclic rate so that makes it a bit quieter but the massive bolt more than offsets the difference. Also the rollers on an HK bolt seem to make a smoother cycle which also makes the MP5 quieter.
I think the MP5A2 is probably the quietest SMG suppressed that I've ever fired. It's why I never felt the need to actually get a MP5SD because the trade off in weight and ballistic performance didn't justify the additional suppression.
And I know from talking to the Gemtech crew that a lot of this is subjective and even with sound meters, if they aren't set up right and under the right conditions you achieve almost any number you want.
