Seriously, I think these stupid tall mounts are like IPA...Everyone secretly knows it sucks, but suffer through it because it's the in thing.
And yeah, nods, heads up, blah blah blah...I don't care. Lower 1/3 4EVR!

These goofball tall mounts mess with my mind. We have one gun with a "snorkel" mount and my brain is constantly trying to calculate the dot hold to compensate for the ridiculous over bore. It's probably not really that necessary, but my brain just works that way.
All this discussion on which is better is stupid. I've got 1/3rd mounted optics on 5 of my rifles but started using a 509t on an ACOG with a Kram mount, ran through 2 days of Carbine 1 and 2 at Vortex with just the 509t and it worked great, just found the approximate offset for a 50yard and in worked with it, as I move more into NV this just makes sense but in no way pushes me away from my other optics on my rifles and they'll remain at 1/3rd. Realize that what works for you, works for you, but might not work for everyone.
You're in luck!

Aw hell no...Bud Light isn't nearly gay enough. When my bros and I are done with a long night of "gunfighting" training, we kick off our NODs and grab a cosmo. Pinkies out, of course!
Shit, I just had an idea. I'm gonna open up an online shop selling Riser Risers. Future proof your setup! Roll up to the range and all your bros have ditched 2.93" for 3.14"? No worries! Hop onto GetItUp.tv and order up a Hi2Pi Riser Riser. Boom...Cool again! We'll stock Riser Risers for all the passé-to-chic combos. They'll all be blue, of course.
Look for us on Insta.
Tall mounts are made to make $.
My night rifle was bumping my NODs so I bought a $20 1/2" riser. Problem solved. It kinda sucks during the day though.
Low mounts should not affect head position. Keep your posture pull your shoulder up.
If they are so much better/faster, how many top competitors are using them? How does a loss of cheekweld affect accuracy during .15-.18 splits?
Lastly, in a 3 day class, how much time is spent with the rifle mounted and a sight picture?
I’m pretty low speed, probably an insult to low speed folks. My AR’s are set up lower 1/3 since they were built before this high mount stuff became the norm. They work.
I did try a 1.93 mount on the last upper build and put a 1-6 in there. I don’t really seem to have a cheekwwl issue and as a bonus my hearing pro isnt constantly breaking seal, so there is that. For now it seems to be working acceptably.
I think someone much wiser than me once said something g akin to the mission drives the gear. NOD’s, gas masks, various lasers and illuminators and God knows what else will have an impact on the gear needed to make it all fit and work.
Figure out what works for your needs and go about mastering the chosen equipment.
