No more Black 1301s?

I saw this on the Langdon Tactical web site. I think I paid extra for my OD 1301, I guess I'm a idiot.

MARCH 10th 2022: These 1301 shotguns are available in OD Green and FDE Tan ONLY - These guns are coated FDE or OD Green and ship with BLACK Furniture/adapters (Magpul fore-end & stock, Aridus stock & fore-end adapters, & Nordic extension). We will not be receiving any more Gen 2 Black 1301's from Beretta - at this time, they do not plan to make any more in Black.

Has anyone heard this straight from Beretta? I don’t distrust Langdon, but it doesn’t seem like a move Beretta would make.

1. The fact this disclaimer isn't on the LTT page linked above anymore...

I believe, at the time, it was regarding the 5-round mag tube guns that Beretta has transitioned away from. The current Beretta guns have the 7-round mag-tube directly attached to the receiver.

A lot of shit has changed since I started this thread less than a year ago...as mentioned the mag change Beretta made, LTT no longer uses Aridus products, now uses GG&G Aridus knock-offs and Black is back.

I would think any model with a gen 2 bolt release would be good to go. I bought a stock model, back when they were only five shot, added a Nordic Comp magazine tube extension, and then made it look like a rolling Aridus ad. Note that mine has interchangeable chokes, but I don't think the newer ones do any more.

Agreed that you want a Gen 2 model, and definitely decide if you want chokes or not before you buy. I have the Gen 2 1301 Tactical LE, (the one that comes with the Mesa pistol grip stock), and it does not take chokes. But i haven't found that to be an issue as it groups well with the Federal LE flight control 00 buck and slugs i have stockpiled.

Everyone always talks about how awesome the Federal Flite Control is, and it really is, but the one you never hear about is the Hornady TAP with their Versatite wad. I shot both types back to back in a shotgun class a couple of months ago and you couldn't tell the difference between the two. From 10 yards and in it looked like I was shooting slugs.

That is good to know, but not surprising. TAP ammo is generally very nice.

IME, Beretta makes a lot of things in 'batches'. Many other companies do this as well (Ruger revolvers for example).

From a production standpoint, that makes a lot of sense on lines where you likely can't justify running multiple lines of production all the time.

So they make black guns for awhile, then switch to FDE guns for awhile. Sporting guns for awhile, then back to tactical...

Sure, they might say they don't plan to make any more of one color... until the demand is back for that color, then BAM they'll make it again.
