So next on the list for CO gun grabbers are handguns with threaded barrels…
When it comes to suppressing 9mm and 22lr pistols, what models of pistol will host the suppressor the best?
Just looking for general shooting, orientating new shooters, competitions(?).
Are the Ruger 22lr still the standard for 22lr handguns and suppressing?
On the 9mm, do any handguns stand out?
Not afraid of spending cash, but I don’t need gold-plated.
IME, suppressed handguns are a gimmick. They tend to have POA/POI shift from unsuppressed, make the gun more muzzle heavy (making you overswing on transitions, while also making return to index wonky compared to an unsuppressed handgun due to the balance being off), can't be holstered very easily, etc. That being said, something like a Glock would be my default answer, because you have a variety of aftermarket RSAs to play with to enhance reliability with the can on. I've also heard that the Beretta 9x series can be good hosts due to the fact that the barrel does not tilt.
I honestly would think a comp would be more useful to use a threaded barrel for a handgun.
Good when they allow you to shoot when you otherwise could not due to excessive noise.
Sig 322 with the Sig SRX22 suppressor.....
I have a M&P with an Omega 9K and with subs it's very nice. I don't know if any of them will make a big difference is noise level as long as it's not a revolver. For 22 I picked up the Taurus competition model and it's nice as well. None of them are going to be great with supers though.
I have a Ruger 22/45 with a Dead Air Mask that is a lot of fun to shoot. CCI Standard Velocity is pretty quiet and cycles reliably. CCI Quiet is less noisy, but it turns it into a single shot. I also have an HK P30L with a Dead Air Odessa 9. With 7 baffles it is much quieter than unsuppressed, but it is much louder than the rimfire, even with 147 grain subsonic ammo. In limited use it has cycled fine.
I have a Sig p322, which all come with a threaded barrel from the factory, and Dead Air Mask HD. They work really well together. The 20 or 25 round Sig mags make shooting a lot more fun. Oh, and it's optics ready.

The different hosts and suppressors I have used on centerfire (Glock, H&K, 1911's) ALL had significant impact shifts when switching from unsuppressed to suppressed, and significant blowback!
The only setup I have had that has NOT given a noticeable impact shift was my MKIII 22/45 with a SpectreII suppressor. This setup runs stupid quiet with no FRP and runs wet well.
the advantage w/Suppressed Rugers is the small ejection port which produces less noise/blowback than an "open slide". It's also easier to hold the bolt closed for zero port noise if one wishes..

For 22LR the Ruger MKIII or MKIV is pretty much the standard. I like my Sig P322 too. It’s been reliable and the higher mag capacity it nice.
As far as center fire goes I’ve been pleasantly surprised how much I like my Omega 9K on my glocks. I’ve used it on my G17, G45 and G43x. No zero shift issue to report.

I’d also recommend Griffin Armament’s EZ Lok or Cam LOK piston and adaptors. They have a taper and don’t come loose after a few rounds.

While I have two Glocks(19/45) suppressed and a HK VP9T, all three run perfect with the Rugged Obsidian, I fit into the "retard with a potato stick crowd" as a buddy describes handguns with a suppressor. I did have the Sig X5 Carry, POS, took 400 or so rounds on it before it would run right, dumped that.
G19.5 with griffin rev 9 has no noticable POI out to 100yds. No new springs required. Easy out of box solution.

I do like a suppressed .22 Glock 44 as a teaching gun. Having someone just wear eye pro and fire a very quiet .22 is a great intro for new shooters. I also have a suppressed Beretta 92 with a .22 conversion kit for the same reason.
I have a suppressed G19 and a suppressed Beretta 92 9mm. They are handy if a animal needs to be dispatched, and it not something that a .22 would be an optimum choice of caliber. He's right about the POA/POI not being changed. Mine has a slide lock so it's stupid quiet as well.
And honestly, it's just fun. I am not "offing enemies of the Crown". It's a really great way to introduce new people to the shooting sports. I've also got almost no hearing in my left ear from military service. My hearing in my right is is also affected. So every little bit helps.
