Holosun 403R: Less parallax error than my first gen Aimpoint R-1 micro

The one thing I've always been cautious of when it comes to commie surplus / production is night vision. Some of that early Russian Night Vision was actually harmful to eyesight. Given that the Chinese think nothing of selling us poisonous dog food, not sure I'm gonna trust their NV tech.

People that won't trust our government when it comes to covid vaccines think nothing of buying certain things from China that are likely a much greater health risk.

This particular model caught my eye because it uses a rotating switch instead of buttons and also contains the battery using a method I'm confident will remain water tight, unlike the ones with the CD-ROM tray style slide-out battery compartments.

I am an Aimpoint guy but I actually have two HS403R red dot sights. One is on a truck gun and it doesn't get treated the nicely. I actually chose the 403R because it has the brightness dial like my Aimpoint micro and also because it does not have the shake awake nonsense. The sight has 50k-100k hours of battery life there is no need for it and when I turn my sight on I want it to stay on.

IMHO, the shake awake is just one more thing to break. It's adding a potential weak spot when it's not even needed. I also replace the battery yearly, needed or not, as part of my maintenance.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the 403R. In some twisted way I was hoping mine would break so I could say what a POS they were but they have taken a beating and kept on running.

IMHO, the Holosun red dots are to Aimpoint as Streamlight is to Surefire. I don't believe they are built as good as Aimpoint micros but they are pretty damn good and hit way above their weight class.

After the use I've put mine through I don't have any issues trusting my life with my sample of two but I also run BUIS so I am also covered if anything happens same as my Aimpoints.

One note I forgot to mention above is, the 403R factory mount is junk. Do yourself a favor and throw it away and get on of the better quality mounts. I went with an absolute co-witness ADM micro QD mount. The 403R sits a bit higher than the Aimpoint Micros so this mount gives me 1/3 co-witness with my irons.

It was a jab at companies that HAVE a long established reputation that basically have very little apparent incentive or interest in continued innovation.
