For "not being a knife guy" you sure have a lot of blades!
That is true, but that's only because I have come into a big collection via a buddy of mine getting on in years who decided he wanted me to have it and but his collection. It's an impressive collection and I'm have yet to put it all out there for sale. I don't personally collect that many knives and try to keep only that which I will actually use, and a few collectors I hold onto. That Loveless is considered the holy grail of collectors knives by some. That's not the top end stuff from him (some of it selling for 20k+) but is valued at probably 4.5-6K from what I'm finding now.
I got ya. I like knives too, but am far from being a collector knife guy. I have a few practical folders and fixed blades, a heavy machete, a leafy green chopper and 2 collectible folders. That's it.
It is funny the Loveless knives are selling for so much, since he kind of didn’t like that whole “museum knife” scene. I once found a knife in a shoe box someone left in my garage when storing stuff. He said just to keep it, it’s old and he never uses it. Doing some research I discovered Loveless knives are highly valued and even mundane ones go for $5K or so. I informed him what I discovered and returned it to him.
From what I read about Loveless is he enjoyed making hunting knives that would used and appreciated more in the using. He made several innovative changes to knife designs while keeping very clean lines. Great knife.
I posted some in the sale section already too. Such as:
