I am considering the Steyr Scout. The only reservation is the bi-pod, all the other features I like.
Any more, short and lighter carbines catch my eye.
Being a old time 308win fan, 6.5cm has my interest.
Thank you for this post.
I ran a Barrett Fieldcraft briefly. It was nicely put together and very, very light. Still, the Steyr is ridiculously versatile. I actually enjoy the bipod, and it really doesn't add too much for what you get.
Mine was basically submerged during a rain storm a week or so back so I am going to have to take the action out and check it for rust. I am considering giving it a paint job.

Wicked paint job. It takes some balls to hit a new gun like that, but if you got skills, you can do it without regret.
I’ve looked at those Marlins in 45-70 and been tempted many a times.

I got a new Scout Scope off eBay for 199 shipped so I couldn't resist since I already had the low rings from when I tired to mount the 4x scope. Steyr was nice enough to mail me a new bipod pin since I lost mine like a moron. I leveled and zeroed my gun 2.5 inches high with 150gr soft points today. Weirdly I grouped as well or better than I did with the 4x. It think the less crisp cross hairs make it easier to just pull the damn trigger and get it done.

Quit spending money, you gotta bail out a Pro from jail :) and the bond is high.
