The truth......it hurts.
If recent refugees to SD are any indication a lot of them were among the few sane people left finally hitting eject. Sadly the others are too damn stupid to realize why they had to leave.
For example Colorado escapees are usually cool. Californians on the other hand make me wish that konzentrationshlagers or gulags were still a thing to send them to.
Two kinds of people: those who move to get away from the BS and those who ruin a place, then move to start over again. I moved from the NE to get away from that BS, many coming to FL trying to make it NYC with palm trees.
The only thing I want people from NY, NJ, etc. to bring with them is quality pizzerias, open till 4am pizzerias and quality pizzerias.
Leave the attitude, politics, driving ideas, mafia practices and all that other BS where you left it.
Oh and egg creams. Egg creams are actually pretty good. NY style deli's are ok too, but mostly pizzerias.
But of course they will !
Crazy don't fix. Neither does stupid.
Had to google egg creams ? :)
My brain was thinking 1980s orange julius kinda drink with egg hahahaha NO WHERE CLOSE
So when you are 12 you hear the name and think "that sounds gross" but then somebody explains what it actually is and you think, I better check this out. We had an old fashioned newsstand (where I dutifully picked up monthly copies of Black Belt, Inside Kung Fu and Soldier of Fortune) in the late 70s - early 80s and they also made egg creams.
I'd have been in on it sooner if they called them ice cream sodas like everywhere else in the country. Obviously it's a NY thing. But after that the guy at the counter where I brought my purchases would look at me and say "You want egg cream?" and I'd say "Sure, better give me one." Between that and Carvel Flying Saucers I sometimes was late to the game. At least I understood everything I needed to know about Cozzoli's pizza from day one.
