What is the brain trust thought on 1:10 twist for such a short barrel? They seem to be easier to find than 1:8.
Just curious if much has changed over the past few years with how many people have first hand experience with a successful shortening project on the Scar 17. Would a Scar 17 with a TA11 and shortened barrel + pinned muzzle brake shooting suppressed with a surefire socom 7.62 mini be worth the couple of hundred dollars to convert? My usage is limited to fun at the range with steel silhouettes every 100 yards out to 750.
I think it's a role where the SCAR 17 shines - 13" SBR model, the ease it can be shot suppressed (or not), with a 1-4/6/8/10 LPVO to put some more heavy steel on target from up-close out to 400-600yds. It can probably hit further, load dependent.
For me it keeps it's 'handiness' with a combined optic / mount weight of <30 oz. Less is better, more I really don't like so much as it makes the weapon 'top heavy', balance wise.
Definitely going for handiness and more functional differentiation from my MWS. Now just need to decide wether to use PMM or Marvin Pitts for the work.Quote:

PMM did a CZ thread job for me and it turned out great.
Either should be fine - you'll have to swap out the GCS (Gas control screw) to a larger sized one to account for the shorter barrel, but that is easy.
