Reading the primer?

I am developing a load for 9mm using the 124gr Hornaday XTP bullet and WW SPP, following the VV loading table on their web site. It does not have that specific bullet, but it does list a Hornaday 124gr FMJ load of 5.3-5.7gr. Dropping back a bit, I am trying 5.5gr, and the primer is trying to tell me something that I don't know how to interpret.
The primer has a raised burr at the ends, something I've never seen before. I pulled the firing pin and checked it. Its completely smooth and normal.
Is this a excessive pressure sign?

Normal striker fired primer flow. If you're within published data, you're totally fine. Some primer cups are softer than others and flow more.

I had worried this was going to be a "Firing Pin Primer Drag" question.

It was close, but not nearly as bad. I love MAC's videos, but the whole "Ermagerd, the primer was oval'd by the Firing Pin Drag."

Drives me nuts.

This is fine. Not a sign of excess pressures. Watch Case rims after extraction, popped primers, etc.

Tea leaves, nothing more than Tea leaves... but some believe in em :-)

By the time you see pressure signs via the primer in handguns, you're WAY over the max load.

In rifles it's easier to read
