So, I have had good luck with one vendor working on my slides. Vulcan Machine Werks. So, I have multiple 1911's that I dont shoot bc they dont have a dot. So, I thought I would gamble on one gun and see how it goes. It's a nice Lipsey model Operator in 9mm that should be a hoot if the good lord works with me one more time.
I'll post pics and range report with outcome.

Trijy SRO. I think an RMR or Holosun would look better, but time will tell. I just have a spare SRO so.....
I have decided the Holosun window is the best balance between RMR and SRO. Good middle ground. They all have their Pro's and Cons, what would you stick on a 1911? I'll post pics when I get it back.

I like that big-ass window (like the EOTech on a carbine). I WANT to see that dot, right now, instead of having to hunt for it.
I know the Holosun has almost universal rave reviews -- but for me, bottom line, it's Chinese.
Will your slide be milled for direct mount to optic, or will a mount be used PB?
They use that Trijy mount that comes with rear sight attached to it. Ill text you the mount. The mount comes with front and rear sights. I hope its not too goofy high. I just remind myself that my Stacatto has a base plate.Quote:

Pardon crappy phone pics but that's what mine looks like. I don't know the SKU but it is a operator with an RMR Type 2 1 MOA. I ran the crap out of this gun recently in pretty harsh conditions without issue. Hands down my favorite pistol.
The RMR definitely sits higher than the direct mill on my G19 but it isn't that bad and as I said, it is a pleasure to shoot.

Yea, I have the Professional FBI or whatever SA gun and didnt have the stones to send that one in. The one I sent is very nice and its in 9mm. If I love the shit out of it, I might send in a TRP.Quote:

I say that looks pretty darn good! The rounded hood matches the top of the slide well, as does the flat finish. If you've got a Hs507c laying around, and you're feeling adventurous, you could swap it over and see how you like it. I don't know if a flat top optic would look unbalanced or not, but I could live with it as it is and not blink an eye.
That mount is high PB, looks like your RD is perched on top of slide, as opposed to being “buried” in slide.
I’d bet when you present gun it’s necessary to lower gun to find Dot, due to muscle memory.
I’m sure you can adapt to it with a lot of presentations.
Thanks George, I may change optics but will shoot it first.
Gaijin, not too bad finding that dot with that HUGE window but feel like the SRO probably makes the dot higher which may lead me to an RMR or Holosun.

I ran a new batch of ammo in which I have several thousand rounds. It ran like a top, very pleased. I also changed to an RMR in an attempt to bring the dot down a scootch. I just don't need or want that monster window in a 1911 that has such a natural sight picture for a long time 1911 guy. Also, with that Vulcan machine werks cut, the dot had to be squeezed into the plate, making the screws almost not needed. Pretty cool.

You should do it; while I wish Trijicon would get off their asses, the Holosun ACSS Vulcan is amazing. Have it on a G19 and while the experts say 'oh if you train the dot only isn't an issue', the same experts used to say 'oh if you carry a revolver and train the 6 shots isn't an issue'. Real life gets in the way of everything and in reality you want every help / crutch / cheat code you can get and the Vulcan is one of those.Quote:
