I recently picked up an old Ithaca 37 and 870 Wingmaster, both former Police guns, that need some work done. Both need to be reparked and the 870 needs a serious shell latch restaking and possibly ejector replacement. Any recommendations of a gunsmith that can help me bring these back to life?

Wow, just got done adding my Ithaca 37 to the list of shotguns, a few posts up. Sir, the Featherweight is a remarkably simple SG to work on. ALL the parts are available from Ithaca, or neumericks? . The 870 same thing. Don't be afraid to dig in learn what makes both tick. An emery board of file, can make the actions butter smooth.
If your absolutely wanting a smith, I'd ask my old retired smith. He's spent a lifetime working old bird guns. His love is the 870 and the model 37. I recently purchased one of each from him. Cheap.

I had a old police Wingmaster reparked a few years back by Nebulous Ordnance in Miami. I know it's not exactly in your neck of the woods and you can almost certainly find someone closer, but I would not hesitate to recommend them.
Their website doesn't look like much, but Jorge (owner/operator) does great work. Recommend a phone call if you decide to explore him as an option.

For the 870, Wilson does a great package that is relatively inexpensive for the work performed. It's $230 for the basic package.

They only work on 870 in 12 gauge, however.

That would work for my 870 as I already like their accessories on one of my other 870's, hopefully I can send it without the stock set as they don't return them for some reason (I like wood on my old shotties).Quote:
