After seven years of buying, selling, and trading on here, AR15, Calguns, NWfirearms, and Reddit, looks like I finally got scammed.
User keljeffrey messaged about my WTB, provided retired LE ID, etc. Sent money then verification, not a peep over a week later. I called the name on the ID back in Illinois and left a message yesterday 7/1 early and left a message. No response by phone or email as of now.
A couple more emails have made clear that this is in fact a scammer.
He stated he didn’t send the scope because I “filed a dispute” over my PayPal transaction, which did not happen.
His last email this morning is just “Hey bud.”
I have an avenue to attempt recovery of funds, and I’ll also be contacting the police department identified on the retired LE ID/badge he shared. Coincidentally, my first carbine/pistol classes were hosted by…an employee of that PD.
Good luck, brother; my bet is this ain't his first rodeo and if he's genuinely a PD retiree SOMEBODY around his old dept will have seen the pattern before.
