Anyone that has an issue with blacks arming themselves is a hypocrite. The 2nd amendment applies to all of us.
So we cross that line if and when we come to it.
If some or all of their members can't resist engaging in criminal activity then they are now criminals. If 10% of their membership can keep their shit together and not engage in criminal activity, their rights shouldn't be subject to the actions of the other 90%.
As much as I don't like the Black Nation of Islam (aka the Black Klan) if members are not criminals and lawfully own firearms without engaging in criminal activity then even there I'm good, not thrilled with the idea but freedom is freedom and either every American who is not a prohibited person has rights or they do not.
That's just the way it has to work, that has to be the starting point and we go from there. If we denied rights to everyone with an idea that could be considered fringe or extremist by mainstream standards, everyone would lose everything.
I don't think anyone here is against black people arming themselves. We all encourage it. I started this thread because of my concern that BLM, which is a radical group that is opposed to pretty much all law enforcement, could cause serious trouble. To be fair, I have the same concern about far right and far left predominantly white armed groups. None of them have actually caused any major trouble as of late. Even the John Brown Gun Club has done little but open carry demonstrate, and to my knowledge, none of them have opened up on the police yet. But all it takes is a few idiots to do something horrible, and then the rumble is on. Right now, tensions are high, the support for killing cops and engaging in terrorism is high, and BLM is actually pro-crime; that last statement is based on one of their founders' own words. Patrisse Khan-Cullors believes that armed robbery is moral and justified if the robber is "desperate". But it IS their right to arm and organize, so nothing can, or should, be done to stop it. As SteyrAUG said, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. It's just something that we need to be aware of.
Edit. Have to learn to stay out of these
This times 1000. As someone else said, the 2nd Amendment is for ALL of us. The second we start trying to pick and choose who it applies to, we will all lose. This goes sideways and we'll be like the UK overnight. The only people allowed to carry guns will be Federal Officers and "on duty" uniformed local LEOs. This is the Progressive wet dream. Do not fall for it.
Honestly, this would be a good outreach time for those on the right to connect with black activists. Make the deal that if they join us in pushing for a rollback of gun bans and things like universal carry, we just closed the biggest divide between us, and we can start working together on everything else.
