Shooting Surplus had one on like a 30% clearance a few months ago. I had been drinking bourbon and couldnt pass it up.
The cheapest Ive seen them lately is like 2100-2200.
I've noticed from Brownell's website that they appear to be continuing to upgrade theirs and make them more and more historically accurate - most noticeable was the lack of bayonet lug on their website, now. Plus they've got them on sale at least through Memorial Day.
Indeed. My Brownell M16A1 was $899 on sale. Since I missed the 10% additional off sale by one day, Brownell gave me a $90 voucher. So my new M16A1 cost a bit over $800. Not the $2500 Colt wants. For $800 I'm good.Attachment 57475
If I remember correctly the only colt thing about their M16A1 and 177e2s is the roll marks. Everything was contracted out to a company in Nevada
The dies for the lowers and uppers are colt owned and built off of the original ones, apparently. As for the rest of the gun US Ordnance makes it I think.
I build them for a lot less... I like the A1
On a side note regarding the XM177E2, what type of carbine buffer is run in it? Standard weight or heavier? The reason for asking is I am looking a building one myself....
I’m pretty sure it’s a regular carbine buffer.
