How are the new DD FSBs attached?

I haven't handled one in person, and it's difficult to tell from the pics.
How are the fancy new front sight bases attached?

The front site base is aligned with the gas port on the barrel. The holes are drilled through the bottom of the front site base, into the bottom of the barrel, then taper pins are driven in the holes from the right side to the left to secure the base to the barrel.
