And now we are pretty much back at philosophy. In technical terms, time is movement through space and has existed as long as space has existed even if there was nothing to realize it. Pretty much like how radio waves and radiation were always there even though we didn't know it yet.
And since a few people have already decided what they think (and I don't mean you), might as well throw out this for fun. The "observer effect" as it applies to the entire universe. This is kind of a scary one and while we aren't even close to explaining it, it seems to be a reliable constant like the "observer effect" in quantum. And that means the entire universe seems to behave in a certain way simply because we are observing it. Lots and lots of implications, few for certain answers and lots to disagree about.
Maybe everything really is kinda the matrix and only exists as a result of us looking at it.
