Took my 16" Light Optimum barreled AR to the range today. I have been shooting other guns lately and I swear I plum forgot how enjoyable it is to shoot. A friend and I shot about 100 rds of steel case "Monarch" 55gr .223 and they 40 rounds of Win M855.
The rifle has an H2 buffer and ran the normally mild steel ammo with no issues at all. Interestingly, it ejected the steel case ammo at least 5 feet farther away than the hotter, brass case, 5.56.
My friend commented on how nice it is to shoot after a 30 rd mag of 855. Even with an A2 FH, it is soft/flat shooting.
I swear it also cleans up more easily than my mid and carbine gassed guns.
Its wearing a new-to-me 1-6 optic now and the week I have to wait to shoot it again is going to take forever lol.

I'll eventually get around to doing an evaluation of one of the "optimum" barrels.
The chamber and the bore of the "optimum" barrel that I bore-scoped have a rather odd, dark matte-grey finish with some shiny metal spots bleeding through. There are also some odd spider-leg artifacts in the bore. The BRT website claims that "the barrels are finished with an advanced hard chrome lining process."
