If I understand correctly a nielsen device increases recoil in order to ensure reliable cycling.
If that is the case then maybe using a titanium slide such as from https://www.krytosindustries.com/
may allow the use of a direct thread on suppressor with no nielsen device.
Any thoughts?

Might as well just use very aggressive slide cuts combined with a lighter recoil spring.

In testing of new suppressors with a new Nelson device, the gun it was on, tore its self apart and self destructed. When testing out new designs be prepared for this happening. Getting spring rate, stroke length and masses all balanced can be an issue that makes designing them a real PITA. I suggest having a high speed camera available to determine what is really going on.
A Nielsen device unlocks the weight of the suppressor from the barrel on Browning type actions. It doesn’t increase recoil it effectively makes the suppressor “weightless” so the action can properly cycle the slide. Imagine you’re on a swing and the feeling you get at the top of your swing, that weightlessness you feel. That’s what a Nielsen device does once the barrel unlocks, the spring delays the recoil effect of the suppressor.Quote:

Is there a booster in the Maxim 9? Can a person shoot it unsuppressed?
The Aurora 2 doesn't require a booster since it's so light. But it's a wipe suppressor, so there's that.
The Maxim 9 has a fixed barrel and does not use a browning tilt barrel action. Fixed barrels don’t require a booster.
Just a little bit of web research reveals why a nielson device is needed for browning style actions, the barrel tips up and a solid threaded connection WILL cause cycling problems:

Firearms utilizing the Browning tilting barrel design, during the cycle of operation, require that the barrel tilt upwards at the muzzle. The shorter the barrel, the more exaggerated the angle of the tilt. Putting weight on the muzzle end of the pistol is like adding weight to the end of a seesaw. The chamber end of the barrel locks into the slide and the weight of the silencer cams pressure upwards. When the pistol is fired with weight at the muzzle end, these types of handguns (including 1911s, Glocks, Sigs, M&Ps, and most popular brands/designs on the market) have trouble unlocking. If they do manage to successfully unlock, they will have trouble lifting the weight of the silencer and cycling properly.
A Nielson type device, like the Advanced Armament A.S.A.P. (Assured Semi-Auto Performance) system, assists the pistol and allows for reliable function. The A.S.A.P. system consists of an action spring and a piston that is threaded to mate up with the host weapon’s muzzle threads.
As the projectile enters into the silencer, the expanding gasses behind it impact the baffles. As the baffles slow, redirect, and cool the gases, the pressure behind them force the silencer forward, like the wind hitting an umbrella you are carrying. This momentarily relieves the weight on the end of the barrel, giving the barrel enough time to unlock and cycle reliability, before the action spring snaps the silencer back into place, ready for the next shot.
Please excuse my ignorance. I have an AAC TiRant 9. It runs on my USP9 and Glock 17 just great. Am I correct in understanding that it has a Nelson device built in? Would I need to remove the Nelson device to run the suppressor on my 9mm AR15?
Yes you need to install the spacer for a fixed barrel gun and remove the spring. Of course, AAC is out of stock but silencershop has them:Quote:

I found the new fixed spacer in stock at Midwayusa. The AAC part number is 64746.
