And here's the kind of response you get when you try to change it:

There was a thread going on with a bunch of back slapping about how the guys could get "$479 bottom dollar ar's"
I tried to spread a little truth and immediately became the target. The worst comments were deleted, but suffice it to say that not only was I personally attacked and called names, but my upbringing was questioned and my parents were called out as well...ridiculous.
Seems like the public at large likes ignorance.
Where in Pa? Im in the SE.

Dont even get me started.
Sure there is no excuse but people are idiots and spread idiocy on the internet. Just google M4A1 reliability, there you go idiocy.
Luckily my local guy is really good and carries a wide range of stuff. He carries colts and KAC and recommends them but when people want cheap he carries decent cheap stuff too.
Now my local academy is another story, according to them the Beretta M9 is a POS and is being replaced by a M&P .45 with a 35rnd hi cap mag........
I'm willing to bet it's supply and demand. They can actually get Rock Rivers, DPMS and Stags from their distributors so they push those because they won't have any problems restocking their shelves if they sell out. On top of that, they probably make a larger profit off of those because dealer price is probably lower on those commercial ar's.
My experience is about 10-15% margins on AR rifles...no matter the brand. The difference is usually what PEOPLE ASK FOR.
I work in a LGS, and i have a DDV5. When someone asks which AR i would buy i tell them DD, Colt, BCM, etc. and have often showed them the chart. Most of them just get this confused look and say "what about RRA, Bushmaster or DPMS?"
:suicide:
If i could only sell quality AR rifles i would, but most people ask for the shit ones, so if i want to stay open i have to stock the shit ones...I have a DD, Colt 6920, and a bunch of others on the shelf and i hope to be a LMT dealer next year, but i don't think i can ever completely eliminate the shit rifles...too much demand, i have had customers want a RRA so bad they pay in full and wait for months when a Colt or DD is sitting right there.
Just saying, it's not always the LGS guy, sometimes is coming from the other side of the counter...
