I have a bunch of the KAC carbine end plate sling adapters, couple of the now discontinued DD equivalent, the new DD EZ CAR QD adapter, Tangodown PR4s, and the MAD (Mission Adapted Design) Hook Up adapter.
Of these, I liked the KAC adapter the best, as it forms a natural extension from the receiver, and is unobtrusive, most of my carbine stocks can completely collapse with it installed. The PR4 is nice but big, there's no way to completely collapse the stock, which may be a small issue for optics with short eye relief (like my beloved 4x32 ACOGs). The older DD adapter has a single QD socket and works well, but it's impossible to find now..
The DD EZ CAR QD adapter, like the PR4 and MAD Hook up, bolts onto the receiver extension, and is great for folks whose unit/department doesn't allow modification of issued gear.
The Hook up, like the Magpul ASAP, allows effortless transition from strong side to weak side shooting, and what I like about it is that it has enough space between itself and the receiver and the stock to allow the HK hook or mash hook to move about during transition without undue fumbling, and the hook is out of the way of the shooting hand.
GG&G makes a lot of good sling adapters, including the "Agency QD Adapter" specifically for people who aren't allowed/able to permanently modify their rifles. It fits over the castle nut and doesn't get in the way of collapsing the stock:

I like the Troy for a bolt-on option.. Ron

Frank Proctor's sling slips on with paracord.

Why dont you just keep it mounted to the rear of the stock. I have the Noveske end plate on my colt, but moved it back to the stock placement, gives me more control of the rifle when slung, and not an issue when mounted, simpler and doesnt need another mount.
I also use the Troy http://troyind.com/%20/slingsmounts/...-sling-adapter A monkey could put it on in 5 minutes and isn't going anwhere even if the nut comes loose. GH
Just purchased this MAD Hood Up based on this thread and several others. I tried to install a MAGPUL ASAP but own a Colt LE6920 and did not want to mess with the mil-spec stake. This MAD gives me more options and I can still use my MAGPUL sling with it. Thanks for the advice.
