i'm sure before they werent shipped with a beveled spacer. My old 212 adapter years ago didn't have one.

My upper was built later in 2011.

Perhaps some FN CHF/Noveske N4 Light barrels have the thread relief cuts, and others don't?

Finally got my hands on the new Surefire muzzle brakes this week, and here are some quick observations.

For brake usage, I found it interesting that instead of machining all through on the two side ports, the new brakes have a spine at the center. I'm assuming it's to assist in the direction of gases to the side, as changing from the previous design would add two additional steps to complete the side ports. The ball nose cutter going half way from each end with a final pass for all through. And also noticed that the outer diameter on the first two baffles are larger than the last, perhaps for erosion/pitting, but don't have the MB556k to physically compare the dia's to. They also feature blind pilot holes at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions that allows the user to fine tune by opening up the ports if need be. The brakes come out of factory neutral ported, but confirmed with Garin, that in the case for the 5.56 brakes, they're optimized for right handed shooters as the port is opened at the 3 o'clock position. However, those that shoot a precision setup, prone primarily, can open up the 9 o'clock to have a more neutral felt impulse.

For suppressor usage, the ratcheting teeth is removed from the top outer diameter of the brake, while the indexing slot is replaced with a pin located away from fouling. From what I understand, the new RC/SOCOM cans won't mount on the legacy adapter, but the older suppressors can mount on the latest adapter, though they won't index perpendicular true to the horizon each time because of the new "tongue" design. There are also two circumferential slots on the main body of the brake, where internal side walls of the can would interface with, perhaps this feature was added to allow carbon to collect in the recessed area oppose to building on the side walls, assisting in removal with high firing schedules.

Installation wise, the instructions don't look like they've changed, same instruction pamphlet, shims, and a bottle of Rocksett. Oh and there's also a blind pilot hole at 6 o'clock, to help index the brake onto the barrel and also for those that wish to pin and weld their muzzle device. I had some difficulty timing the first brake while torquing to a range of 20-30 ft-lb, but the second brake didn't require additional shims, and took just a couple of minutes to install. Haven't gone down range with it yet , but I hope to test it out soon along with hoping the new 7.62 RC comes to my dealer before the end of the year so I can start the paperwork.

+1, same experience here.
I am curious to see ROF comparisons, and night-shoot comparisons between the legacy and new suppressors.
Where is a good place to pick up the Socom muzzle brake?
I believe the new 556 muzzle brakes just started shipping, while the 762 brakes won't until next year. The 556 brakes haven't hit the larger or well known retailers yet, they're trickling in, and I got mine through one of the smaller Surefire dealers, Mark, out in a store front in NY, but they're out of stock.
Did a quick search, looks like this place down in Texas stocks them at the moment.

Ever since I ordered a 7.62 RC, I've been checking the following retailers, every so often, on both the 5.56 and 7.62 brakes.

I know Grant has them on order, Rainier just got the 556RC cans so natural to assume they'll start carrying the new brakes, and the other two retailers I've confirmed they've also are on order.
Anyone know where to get a Surefire SF3P adapter, flash hider, not muzzle brake?
