It's been 5 or 6 years since I used one, so honestly I don't remember much about the PIG other than deciding that for that amount of weight and length added, I'd rather have a suppressor mounted.
The most effective thing I've ever tried for pure muzzle control is a Surefire brake, but it's pretty annoying even on a 14.5" barrel. BattleComp is a close 2nd, with less of a fireball issue, but on an 11.5" barrel there was a lot of dust kicked up with prone, rollover/urban prone, etc, and overall was pretty distracting with the concussion/noise.
The Levang is not as "cool guy", but it's cheap, reduces flash on a par with an A2, controls the muzzle better than an A2, moves the blast forward rather than sideways/back, and seems to make my 10.5" upper run better.
