BCM pins while tight have never given me any issues with removal
As for that cap, just muscle up and rip that beetch off of there if you don't wanna remove the FSB.

I'm just like tb-av, I have the 12"fsp cutout rail. I did not want to move the fsb on my new BCM upper so I just cut away with metal snips, pryed pieces off until I had a small ring that would fit under the rail. I then dremeled it smooth. Installed rail , GTG.
Just bring it to our carbine class next month jman. I'll fix it for ya right before we go loud. :moil: ;)

Bend the top part around the gas tube out, and snip around that. It's the weakest part of the stupid cap - mine gave me the same headache, and a combination of bolt cutters and gardening shears finally got it by attacking the top bit of the handguard cap. Try that if you're still stuck.

Guess I'm just going to have to file the edges now.
I thought I remember a thread iraqgunz started about not ****ing around with this stuff unless you know what you're doing. Probably should have listened but damn this didn't seem that hard to do initially.
Get a sharp chisel and hammer then find a good spot then whack the **** of it. It will cut through and you can remove the rest.
Yea jman give it a few whacks with mallet and chisel/flat head screw driver. If that doesn't cut the cap, it'll at least move the cap away from the FSB enough to where you can get a grip on it with some needle nose pliers. The cap registers in a grove in the barrel, once you get it free from that, the cap will come right off.
You'll also have to whack that sling swivel pin out to install the rail (1/2" punch)
Aluma Black will help clean up your FSB when you're done too.
Do you have a set of needlenose vicegrips? Grab on tight and twist like winding spaghetti onto a fork. It should rip and separate.
Finally got it off. After whacking it with a chisel and pulling at it with needle nose vise grips for a good while I said screw it and knocked the FSB pins out. I should've done that to begin with. The only reason I hesitated to do it initially was because it was such a pain to remove the ones on my noveske. However that's because I was doing it wrong. I used just a 1/8 punch. This time I used a bigger punch to get the pins flush then just tapped them out with the 1/8. Took about a minute per pin. Easy.
After looking at it I don't see how one can get the cap completely off without moving the sight tower forward. It's wedged against the barrel shelf like you said munch. I got the cap torn down to the barrel and still couldn't get it off.

I highly recommend knocking the pins out and moving the FSB forward, then cutting the cap off. No twisting and beating.

Anyway thanks for all the suggestions.
There's a youtube video of a girl doing a centurion rail install with metal clippers and a dremel. ;)
