I will note that I do use high temp paint for certain projects, but will say that color matching the original finish is often the hard part. It will look better IMO if you paint the shaved base off of the barrel or mask off the barrel. If you overspray onto the barrel it is generally noticeable.
I have or do use both options for different firearms purposes but IMO the Aluminum Black (Birchwood Casey) more closely resembles the actual phosphate type finishes on these type of rifles.
