yeah, i was looking at the lmt ones, and though they make a fine piece of equipment, they're just so damned expensive. upper is something like 1300 without a bcg. ouchies.

add AeroPrecision C.O.P. upper
If you want to be really technical only the LMT, Colt, and discontinued MEGA are true monolithics. The VLTOR is welded together from two parts and has a detachable lower rail, while the Aero Precision is a continuous top rail but has detachable, modular, reconfigurable lower and side rails.
From what I've read here and elsewhere (including MEGA's official statement on their website), LMT has not actually sent MEGA a nasty letter, but MEGA has apparently assumed they would get one if they didn't stop voluntarily.
I have one, but it's still sitting in the box. From inspection it looks great. I will know more whenever I get around to installing a barrel and using it. It's only about $100-120 less than the better prices I've seen on the VLTOR VIS and MEGA monolithic, so I'm not sure I would call it an incredible value, but it appears to be a very good value. The configurability of the rails / side and bottom panels is outstanding and seems to be a best of both worlds between quadrails and tube style handguards.
