Instead of starting a new thread (sorry OP if I hi-jack yours real quick), I am putting a BCM 20" Govt. on my post-ban Bushamster. The lower is a full A2 with the rifle stock, but came with a carbine upper with an A2 receiver and that stupid AK-74 muzzle brake.
What can I get out of the post-ban Bushmaster upper made back in the 90's?
Rojocorsa: What made you want the 20"? I'm looking to do some CMP shoots with mine, but not expecting miracles. They say going the 5.56 route on a match is an instant added 10 point benefit over a .30.
98k,
I should clarify that I'm doing a favor for close friend. He started out with a BNIB "used" M&P Sport he got for less than $700 in CA (which is a good deal, these tend to go for 725-750 BEFORE fees and taxes here).
Anyway, my buddy wants an an A-4 upper (which is already on the way from Bravo) because it strikes his fancy and most likely due to the longer sight radius and all the attributes that 20" ARs have. Eventually, I think he's planning to do an A-4 style replica with the RAS rail, etc.
I'm still 50% there on my first AR, actually. My plan has been to get a 16" middy Bravo upper. I can't wait for my friend's 20" upper to get here because I have no real experience shooting those. But yeah, they make for better target rifles.
